Nearly Christmas - Weather is OK

I just realised we have to do some Christmas shopping this week. Our tree is up, but Christmas is all about presents, right? We need to go shopping and SPEND SOME MONEY to appease the Christmas spirits... I am hoping for sunny weather. Dive shop will be closed on Christmas day so we can all have a family day. Being with the family is far more important than presents! But it's just not the same "over here"!

The weather in Phuket the last few days has been mostly very nice, some rain here and there - sudden tropical downpours.. there was rain for 10 minutes this afternoon and for about an hour last night. Yesterday we spent several hours at Layan Beach in the sunshine, and decided to call in at Ton Sai Waterfall on the way home (free entry after 3pm) - the waterfall is part of Khao Phra Thaeo National Park - the largest area of untouched forest in Phuket. A few other visitors were there. The falls are nothing spectacular, but you can take a walk in the forest and enjoy the nature.

Where are you Christmas
Why can't I find you
Why have you gone away
Where is the laughter
You used to bring me
Why can't I hear music play

Added later - I found these comments on Bill Rinis Blog:

Christmas in Thailand is very interesting. Being 90% Buddhist they don’t really celebrate Christmas. They know about it and they decorate up the city for it but they don’t necessarily “get” it.

The Bangkok Post had an cute story where they interviewed Thai children and asked them about Santa Claus. One kid said he didn’t believe in Santa Claus because reindeer can’t fly. Another said he didn’t believe because every Christmas he wishes for gift but he never gets any (his parents obviously don’t celebrate). One of the more insightful responses was from a child who said he didn’t believe in Santa but that he thought that Santa was a positive personality that showed people that it is good to give to others. Okay, maybe the Thai’s do “get” it.
